UNC and Michael Malone have made another splash in the transfer portal. Point guard Terrence Brown committed to the Tar Heels this morning, a week after the conclusion of his two day visit to Chapel Hill. The guard picture for next season shifted last week week with the news that Derek Dixon committed to Arizona and Coach Michael Malone decided to move on from incoming freshman Dylan Mingo. All the pieces fell into place for Brown to join what Malone is building for next season.
Brown was the leading
scorer for Utah last season, averaging just under 20 points per game. He was also the leader in assists and steals as a bright spot on a team very much still trying to find its footing in the Big 12. His ability to score makes him an attractive option in the transfer portal, especially with more talented pieces around him so that he isn’t forced to try and be the entire offense the way he was at Utah.
Malone is still chasing some big fish in the portal. UNC is highly interested in Wake Forest transfer Juke Harris as well. The combination of Harris and Brown in the backcourt would be a substantial upgrade over last year’s options.
How do you feel about the way next year’s roster is shaping up so far?
