It was just a couple days ago that we were seeing talk that WWE is going to do everything they can to make sure Skydance cuts ties with AEW. That means continuing to counter program its television at every opportunity, such as next week when NXT goes head-to-head with Blood & Guts.
To that end, WWE has now officially gone overboard.
The Halloween Havoc special ended with Grayson Waller retaining the NXT championship over Tony D’Angelo. He didn’t even make it out of the ring before CM Punk’s face filled
up the big screen to announce he would be challenging Waller for his title on next week’s show.
That’s one hell of a main event.
Earlier in the night, General Manager Robert Stone told Kelani Jordan, fresh off of cheating her way to a victory over Wren Sinclair, that she would be putting her title on the line next week as well. Only he refused to name her challenger, instead choosing to leave it a mystery.
All this in addition to already having announced John Cena will make an appearance, presumably to get NXT involved in The John Cena Classic, the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and an Unsanctioned match pitting Cruz Montana vs. Dion Lennox with the UFC’s Michael Chandler as a special guest enforcer. Plus, Dragon Lee & Rey Fenix & Intercontinental Champion Chad Gable team up to take on The Vanity Project.
That’s a lot to throw at Blood & Guts.
Maybe they’ll even win the night?
