Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou Football
Mizzou Football kicker Blake Craig is the latest Tiger to win an SEC weekly award. Announced on Monday, Craig was named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Craig was 2/2 on field goals with a long of 53, plus 4/4 on extra points — and currently leads the SEC in field goals per game.
Looking ahead — No. 19 Mizzou’s November 14th game at No. 2
Georgia will be televised on ABC, but the kick-off will either be 2:30 or 6:30 p.m. CST— depending on the results of this Saturday’s games.
Meanwhile, tough news for the basketball roster heading into tonight’s season opener vs Cleveland State: Jaylen Carey has been suspended for violating team rules — and CJ Gunn has been ruled ineligible.

- Morning Commute from Josh Matejka: Oh boy. Here comes the coaching carousel…
In the immediate aftermath of Norvell’s firing, early candidate lists started popping up for his replacement in Tallahassee. And wouldn’t you know it, Jimmy Sexton has Eli Drinkwitz’s name on the circuit once again.
Eli Drinkwitz is a potential candidate for the Florida State job. Interesting.
- MV3 from me: Jamal Roberts, Mizzou Take Care of Business Against Arkansas
With his performance on the ground, he eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards this season — becoming the 53rd Mizzou player to do so in program history. With five 100-plus rushing yard games this season, Roberts currently leads the SEC — and all of Power Four — with 1,0005 rushing yards.
Jamal Roberts keeps doing Jamal Roberts things.
- First Serve from Aaron Segal: From overlooked to in the picture, Mizzou makes statement against Tennessee
Missouri has shown it can compete with nationally ranked opponents. The win against Tennessee gives the Tigers another piece of evidence that their success at home is not simply a product of favorable matchups.
What a HUGE win for Dawn Sullivan’s team on Sunday against a Top-1o Tennessee team. The volleyball Tigers are making some noise.
- From Jaden Lewis: How new wrinkles are helping Mizzou evolve its rushing attack
Going back to the jet sweep to Fowlkes, it’s something that we haven’t seen from the Tigers’ offense much this season. But it was frequent on Saturday as it gave gave Arkansas more rushing threats to defend on top of playing against one of the best running backs in the SEC.
It was a productive night for DeMarion Fowlkes against Arkansas.
- Tiger Top Spin from Aaron Segal: Mizzou tennis looks to close fall season with June Stewart Invite
For a roster still learning how to compete together, the fall season has been about more than collecting wins. The Tigers have spent the past several months developing chemistry, establishing expectations and becoming comfortable with a new system.
One last chance for Mizzou Tennis in the fall season to put something together at the June Stewart Invitational.
- 2026-2027 Mizzou Men’s Basketball Preview from Matthew Gustafson: Posts
There’s no doubt about it: this is the deepest, most talented and most experienced group of posts during Gates’ tenure with the Tigers.
Mizzou’s frontcourt is LOADED with talent.
- Mizzou Men’s Basketball Media Session from Colin Simmons: Cleveland State Edition
“This entire season excites me because of the talent we have,” Pierce said. “We have a really good team, and we showed glimpses of it in our exhibition games, but I feel like once we start to get rolling, we’ll see at the end of the season how good we are.”
It might take a little bit for Mizzou MBB to gel, but the talent is there.
- From Jack Wiselogel: Mizzou Soccer parts ways with head coach Stefanie Golan
The Tigers haven’t made the postseason since 2020. Golan’s best season came in her first year, going 7-10 in 2021. Since then, the team has not won more than five games in any season. Last season, the Tigers went 4-10-3, finished 1-7-2 in SEC play, and placed 15th in the conference.
Mizzou Soccer is heading into a new era after Stefanie Golan’s departure.
- From Colin Simmons: Tiger Style Sweeps the Missouri Duals in Season Opener
Another season of Mizzou wrestling began at the Hearnes Center with the Missouri Duals, and another season began with three victories. The Tigers had a combined score of 132-9 across the three duals, only tallying three individual losses.
Mizzou Wrestling if off to a good start!
- From Jack Wiselogel: Mizzou women’s basketball erases 19-point deficit, beats Howard 91-88
The Tigers had no business being in it late. Trailing by as many as 19, and down 76-59 with 6:41 left in the fourth quarter, they ripped off an 18-2 run that cut it to a one-point game. Per ESPN’s win probability meter, they had just a 0.3% chance to win. Someone forgot to tell Missouri that.
What a comeback win for Mizzou WBB in their season opener.
