Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich could not hide the disappointment, but it might have been even deeper than that. Kimmich seemed devastated by the 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain, which ultimately resulted in a 6-5 loss on aggregate.
“In my 11 years at the club, this has been our best season — even better than the treble season. We didn’t play good football for half the season back then, then we turned things around in the second half of the season. But in terms of consistency over an entire
season, I didn’t experience a season like this one. So it’s even more bitter that we were eliminated today,” said Kimmich (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Kimmich is going to have a tough time getting over this one. For months, Bayern Munich was a complete and utter juggernaut, but against PSG, the squad had finally met its match. The Bavarians could not solve Luis Enrique’s gameplan and often looked confused or even stressed.
Yes, there will be a tomorrow, but for Kimmich and his mates, that likely will not be of much help in getting over this elimination from the Champions League.
