Another offseason edition of Seahawks Reacts! This one is all about rookies from the same school, but on two different teams. The Arizona Cardinals selected the electrifying Jeremiyah Love with the No. 3 overall pick, which is as high as we’ve seen a running back go in the NFL
Draft since Saquon Barkley went second overall in 2018. Meanwhile, the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks took Jadarian Price to end Round 1.
The Notre Dame backfield went in the opening round to the same division, albeit one is going into a much better team situation than the other. Love is going to be the clear starter for Arizona, whereas it’s trickier with Price. George Holani has received the first-team reps throughout OTAs and minicamp, Emanuel Wilson is in the mix, and eventually Zach Charbonnet will play this season (we hope).
Our question is a simple one: Who will finish the season with more rushing yards? The case for Love is obvious because he figures to get more carries than Price, but if the Cardinals do a lot of losing then there may be a lot of must-pass situations that reduce his rush attempts. Price is going to be in a by-committee approach while simultaneously being in an offense that is predicated on running the ball and has an offensive line that is finally above average.
Former Seahawks executive Scot McCloughan believes Price will be a better player than Jeremiyah Love, but we’ll need years to determine that. For this year, who comes out on top in the rushing battle?
Check back for the full results at the weekend.
