Barcelona are hoping to return to the 1:1 rule in time for the summer transfer window as they aim to bolster their squad ahead of the start of the 2026-27 season.
The departure of striker Robert Lewandowski will help the club’s financial situation as his exit will free up around €24 million from the wage bill.
La Liga’s general director Javier Gomez has been asked about Barcelona’s hopes of returning to the 1:1 rule and hinted that they are on track, per Catalunya Radio.
“I can’t make assessments, but
there is data that is public, such as the auditor accepting Barça’s €70 million for the VIP boxes and that Spotify Camp Nou will open a new stand soon,” he said.
“In addition, the departure of Lewandowski, who had one of the highest salaries, will also help. With all of this, it’s easy to get an idea.”
Lewandowski isn’t the only player being tipped to leave this summer. Ansu Fati could make his move to Monaco permanent in an €11 million transfer, while players such as Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Marc Casado and Andreas Christensen have also been tipped to leave.
