Four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson is preparing to sign with the Miami Heat upon clearing waivers with the Dallas Mavericks, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
Thompson, who signed a 3-year, $50 million deal with the Mavericks in 2024, will have his remaining $17.5 million bought out by the Mavericks. Charania said that acquiring Thompson was one of Miami’s top priorities of the offseason, as the franchise look to bolster its roster around former MVP Giannis Antentokounpo

Over 69 appearances during the 2025-2026 season, Thompson averaged 11.7 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 21.7 minutes per game, while shooting 38.3% from beyond the 3-point arc.
