Bayern Munich have some footballer in Michael Olise. It’s hard to have imagined he’d be this good for the German Rekordmeister when he joined from Crystal Palace, but he has quickly shown the world that he is a true force to be reckoned with and his humble nature makes him all the more of a likeable character.
It should come as no surprise that all of the big clubs in Europe are now interested in trying to get the French winger. It’s nearly impossible not to take notice of the 36 goals and 52 assists
he’s tallied from a total of 96 competitive appearances for the Bundesliga Champions. He also currently leads the Champions League with 8 assists and is closing in on Thomas Müller’s single season assists record in the Bundesliga (21), currently sitting on 18 himself.
As such, there have been recent reports loosely linking Olise with a potential move to Real Madrid that have gained some traction in addition to a number of pundits suggesting he’d be a natural replacement for the departing Mohamed Salah at Liverpool. As far as finances are concerned, though, Real Madrid have reportedly said they would be willing to pay just shy of 150 million Euros for the France international, but Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl was quick to shut that door of possibility.
Ahead of Bayern’s weekend match at St. Pauli, Eberl was directly asked about the Real Madrid links with Olise, to which he replied, “No, quite simply no. We have a long-term project, Michael feels very comfortable here. You can see how this team works, and when we play football like this, there’s no chance for anyone [of getting him], ” he told Sky Sport reporter Kerry Hau (via @iMiaSanMia).
As things stand, Olise’s contract at Bayern runs through June 2029 and Bayern have every hope of getting him to sign an extension at some point. It has become very clear that the club have long term plans with Olise, rightfully so, and will make it clear to other clubs that’s the case.
