The Milwaukee Brewers have released the roster for the National League Division Series. Here’s the breakdown:
Catchers (2): William Contreras, Danny Jansen
Infielders (6): Jake Bauers, Caleb Durbin, Andruw
Monasterio, Joey Ortiz, Brice Turang, Andrew Vaughn
Outfielders (6): Jackson Chourio, Isaac Collins, Sal Frelick, Brandon Lockridge, Blake Perkins, Christian Yelich
Pitchers (12): Grant Anderson, Aaron Ashby, Robert Gasser, Jared Koenig, Nick Mears, Trevor Megill, Jacob Misiorowski, Chad Patrick, Freddy Peralta, Quinn Priester, Jose Quintana, Abner Uribe
The first notable decision is the exclusion of Tobias Myers from the pitching staff. Myers pitched a 2.64 ERA over 30 2/3 innings from July 23 onward, almost exclusively in relief. With the decision to keep Myers off the roster, the Brewers made room for 26-year-old Robert Gasser. The lefty made two appearances with Milwaukee this year, allowing six runs (only two earned) over 5 2/3 innings in late September.
Another exclusion on the list is first baseman Rhys Hoskins. With the midseason arrival of Andrew Vaughn, it simply didn’t fit in the roster construction to get Hoskins regular at-bats. The right-handed Hoskins only received 10 plate appearances in September, with the majority of those coming as a pinch hitter.
