Marcus Rashford is coming to the end of his season-long loan with Barcelona and speculation is rife about what may happen next.
The England international has readily admitted he wants to stay but knows that may not be possible. Barca don’t want to pay his buy option and have asked for another loan, while Manchester United would prefer a straight sale.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Rashford has already agreed a three-year deal (with a 40% pay cut) with Barcelona but the club are reluctant to go ahead
because the amortization is too high.
With that in mind, Rashford has told Barca he’s willing to sign a five-year contract, with the same pay cut, in a bid to reduce the amortization.
There’s no word on what Barcelona make of Rashford’s plan. The club are interested in keeping hold of the 28-year-old but the finances involved are a problem.
There’s also likely to be other clubs interested in Rashford after a strong season with Barca. Aston Villa are reportedly keen to sign the Englishman again. The forward spent time on loan at Villa Park prior to his move to Barca.
