There’s some good news on the injury front, as revealed by interim head coach Calum McFarlane in today’s press conference: Reece James and Levi Colwill are not only back in training but are now back in contention for matchday selection.
Of course, Chelsea are being very very careful in both cases. Colwill has been out since preseason after tearing his ACL and that recovery, as many of us might know, is never easy or straightforward. James meanwhile has managed to stay healthy for much of the season after struggling
to do so for several years, so we’re understandably trying to make sure this injury isn’t the start of yet another long series of injuries.
“We’ve got Reece back in training, Levi is back in training, both looking good. A little bit away to the game, so we’ll see how they do day by day, but both are looking promising.”
“We’re taking it day by day, and obviously Levi’s had a long injury. Reece had a really good run and has been injured again, and there’s a lot of games still to play, so we don’t want to push too much, but we’re just taking it day by day and see, hopefully, they come through. [But] potentially, yeah [they could be in the squad]”.

I wouldn’t say we have “a lot” of games left, but we sure could use them in, say, the FA Cup final if they are in fact truly and all the way recovered.
