Dominik Mysterio created an unlikely alliance to headline the AAA Verano de Escandalo event. Dirty Dom will team with El Grande Americano to wrestle two members of Los Perros del Mal.
Dominik’s motivations are up for debate. Whether it be self-preservation or a con game, the risk is great in trusting that scoundrel. The plan is for Dominik to defend the AAA Mega Championship against El Grande Americano at Triplemania in September. The Perros threw a monkey wrench in the mix when they debuted and attacked
EGA. Dom doesn’t want to suffer that same fate, and he also claims that he wants EGA healthy to have their mega showdown. Thus, Dominik is watching EGA’s back.
Even though there hasn’t been any obvious hints of treachery from Dom in this storyline, he’s burned El Grande Americano in the past. Plus, wrestling history is littered with these types of stories with the top heel actually plotting something more sinister on the beloved babyface. Verano de Escandalo translates to Summer of Scandal, so Dominik betraying EGA would certainly be scandalous enough to fit the name of the event.
That’s not to say funny business is guaranteed. It’s just one of many intriguing angles in how this main event could play out.
Verano de Escandalo will be taped Saturday, July 25 from Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico. The special will air over the next three weeks. Week one will be live. Week two will air on August 1. Week three will air on August 8.

- Dragon Lee vs. La Parka vs. Mecha Wolf in qualifier for vacant AAA Latin American Championship (week one)
- AAA World Cruiserweight Championship: Fenix (c) vs. Mini Vikingo (week two)
- Psycho Clown vs. El Fiscal vs. Cruz del Toro in qualifier for vacant AAA Latin American Championship (week two)
- AAA Reina de Reinas Championship: Flammer (c) vs. La Catalina vs. Lady Shani (week three)
- Damian Priest vs. Omos vs. Galeno del Mal in qualifier for vacant AAA Latin American Championship (week three)
For a quick breakdown on the other storylines, La Hiedra has her last chance to challenge for the mixed tag championship. Hiedra is a former champion with Mr. Iguana as her partner, but she bossed him around as a toxica. Iguana and Lola Vice shared a spark, and that led to gold. Hiedra failed several times to take the titles from them, but now she has a decorated teammate in Laredo Kid who knows how to win.
Mini Vikingo won a qualifier to earn his shot at Fenix for the cruiserweight title. This should be a straightforward high-octane match to showcase Mini Vikingo as a future star in defeat. One storyline thought crossed my mind, but it is probably unlikely. It’s possible that Dorian Roldan reconsiders dismissing Mini Vikingo’s talent, and he recruits the youngster into El Ojo faction as a replacement for the injured Hijo del Vikingo. I’d guess that there is a very small chance of that happening, and you never know.
Speaking of Hijo del Vikingo, he suffered a serious knee injury and was forced to vacate the AAA Latin American Championship. General Manager Rey Mysterio is holding a series of qualifiers to crown a new champion at Triplemania. Four three-ways were booked. One already took place with El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. defeating Texano Jr. and Abismo Negro Jr. to advance.
Flammer is on a record-breaking reign as the longest Reina de Reinas champion. Her days may be numbered though. La Catalina is a hot commodity coming from CMLL. Two-time champ Lady Shani recently returned, and she pinned Flammer in a non-title bout.
For most of the world, WWE streams the weekly episodes in English and AAA offers the program in Spanish in the live section of their respective YouTube channels. Start time for Verano de Escandalo is 10 pm ET on Saturday night.
