Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde has published a statement on his social media to clarify the controversy surrounding his reported lack of willingness to play as a right-back for the team.
I have read several articles harming me personally. I know I have had bad games, I am aware. I do not hide and I face up to it. I am truly sad. They can say many things about me, but under no circumstances can they say that I refuse to play. I have given everything and more for this club, I have played with
fractures, injured, and I have never complained nor asked for a rest. I have a good relationship with the coach which makes me feel confident enough to tell him which position I like most on the field, but always, always I made it known that I am available to perform anywhere, on any trip and in every match. I left my soul in this club and I will continue doing so, even though sometimes it is not enough or I am not playing as I would like, I swear on my pride that I will never give up and I will fight until the end playing wherever it is needed. Valverde didn’t play a single minute during Real Madrid’s 5-0 win against Kairat but will be expected to return to the starting lineup —possibly as a right-back— when Los Blancos host Villarreal this Saturday.
