The Los Angeles Rams made three practice squad moves on Tuesday, including signing linebacker Jon Rhattigan, a former Army graduate and six-year NFL veteran who should provide immediate help on special teams. Rhattigan has played over 1,200 special teams snaps in his career with the Seahawks, Panthers, Steelers, and Raiders.
To make room for Rhattigan, the Rams released linebacker Eli Neal and cornerback Nyzier Fourqurean from the practice squad.
Rhattigan went undrafted in 2021 and signed with the Seahawks, appearing in 14 games as a rookie. He is not considered NFL defense material, having only spent 20 career snaps at linebacker, but is a valuable special teams contributor.
Of course, the Rams are ranked 32nd in special teams for the second year in a row. Rhattigan, who played 236 special teams snaps in 12 games with the Raiders last year, could be elevated for a role there as soon as this weekend against the Chargers.
Neal is the more notable of the two players released. He appeared in 10 games with the Rams over three seasons.
