One last transaction on the final day of the regular season, with Blake Treinen placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation one day after suffering the injury while warming up in the bullpen at Oracle Park in San Francisco. Bobby Miller was recalled from the Triple-A champion Oklahoma City Comets to help fill innings for the Dodgers in Game No. 162 against the Giants on Sunday.
Treinen was warming up in the top of the seventh inning but suddenly stopped, feeling something in his
shoulder. Instead, Brock Stewart entered the game in the bottom of the inning having not warmed up at all.
“I don’t know if it was a complete blowout. But really unfortunate,” manager Dave Roberts told reporters at Oracle Park in San Francisco on Saturday. “We’re going to get imaging, obviously it’s an IL, his season’s over.”
Miller returns to the Dodgers having thrown scoreless innings for Oklahoma City in Games 1 and 3 of the Pacific Coast League championship series on Tuesday and Thursday. He did not pitch in Saturday’s Triple-A championship game in Las Vegas.
Miller’s two appearance with the Dodgers this season have been three innings and 2 1/3 innings, and the Dodgers might need multiple innings for Sunday’s bullpen game.
His activation gives the Dodgers 10 relievers on the active roster, but closer Tanner Scott pitched on both Friday and Saturday, so he’s likely unavailable on Sunday. The Dodgers used five relievers for one inning apiece after Blake Snell’s four-inning tuneup on Saturday.
If Evan Phillips pitches on Sunday, it will make three appearances in four days for him, not out of the question, but perhaps something the Dodgers want to avoid in a game with literally no stakes. Same for Kris Bubic, who pitched an inning on Saturday and hasn’t pitched on back-to-back days this year.
So the Dodgers might have seven relievers to cover the nine innings on Sunday. Miller can give them multiple innings, as can Justin Wrobleski, who last pitched two-thirds of an inning on Thursday, and perhaps Roki Sasaki, who last pitched Friday.
Jack Dreyer is the first pitcher for the Dodgers on Sunday, making his 67th appearance of the season, tying his total from his 2025 rookie campaign.
