Belief is a powerful thing in sports. Listen to Miami head coach Travis Steele talk about it with his Miami RedHawks being 31-0. If you have belief, you can do anything.
That’s why UK Sports Network color analyst Jack “Goose” Givens’s comments about Kentucky during Saturday’s game against Florida are glaringly concerning.
That’s not something you want to hear. It’s just a bad
look. We’ve seen this Kentucky team, even through all the drama, beat some really good teams this season. They’ve kept believing all season. It’s what led them to some memorable wins, including come-from-behind victories.
I think back to last year when Kentucky beat Florida, when the Gators were 13-0. They fell behind 26-15 and roared back to unleash a 16-0 run and never looked back.
Where was that on Saturday? This was Senior Day and a huge opportunity to earn a double-bye in the SEC Tournament. Kentucky came out and fell behind 11-0 before you could blink.
This team better recapture whatever belief it had when it went 8-1 after a 0-2 start in SEC play. We’re only a week removed from Denzel Aberdeen saying this team could make some noise in March.
