With the elimination of Jay White, there wasn’t much doubt about who would be facing off in the finals of AEW’s latest tournament, the Continental Challenge Cup. Spoilers for Dynamite in Glasgow, Scotland today (Aug. 26) confirmed everyone’s suspicions. The show’s premiere on HBO Max, TBS, and AEW Plus tonight gave us a chance to watch them be confirmed.
Continental champion Jon Moxley opened the show against his Death Riders teammate Claudio Castagnoli. Big Swiss pushed Mox to the limit, but everyone
had the champ penciled penned in for the finals from the moment the field was announced.
About an hour later, a wounded Nigel McGuinness faced out with Kyle O’Reilly. A predictably satisfying chess match between two great mat technicians, but McGuinness wasn’t going to make it this far and not have a big match in London. The English legend wore O’Reilly down, eventually making him tap.
