The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to wait on Aaron Rodgers and his decision on whether or not he will join them for the 2026 season. This comes after both Team President Art Rooney II and General Manager Omar Khan began the offseason reassuring both media and fans that they don’t expect Rodgers to drag this decision deep into the spring as he did in 2025, not committing to the team until mandatory minicamp.
Rooney, in particular, has given multiple soft deadlines in terms of expectations for when Rodgers
would give the Steelers a decision, most recently saying he’d expect to know by the draft. Of course, that didn’t happen, and the Steelers drafted Penn State quarterback Drew Allar. And while the Steelers haven’t shown public frustration, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says their patience could be running out.
“After watching two of their ‘expected’ deadlines come and go — and insisting this isn’t the same situation as last year — the Steelers might not be so understanding if this drags on for two more weeks,” Dulac writes.
The Steelers will begin OTAs on May 18, and their mandatory minicamp will start on June 2. Should this year continue to echo 2025, Rodgers will make his decision right around the start of mandatory minicamp.
