It is very sad to hear the news that former Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Jordan Devey passed away on Friday, July 24th, at the age of 38 by suicide. His wife shared the tragic news publicly on social media.
Devey’s mother believes Devey suffered from CTE, but according to ESPN’s article on Saturday morning, they won’t be able to test for the disease based on the way he passed.
Devey had a home with his wife and four children in the Kansas City area after he retired from the NFL in 2021. He
will be survived by them; a GoFundMe has been set up to support the family.

Devey played three seasons with the Chiefs from 2016 to 2018.
The Utah native first signed as an undrafted free agent in 2013 for the Baltimore Ravens. He then played for the New England Patriots, winning a Super Bowl in 2014.
Following his three seasons in Kansas City, Devey played for the Las Vegas Raiders and the Buffalo Bills, before being released in August 2021.

Backups: Justin Fields, Garrett Nussmeier (R), Chris OladokunDepending on whether or not Mahomes (who is recovering from a torn ACL) will be ready for the start of the year, K.C. could look to Fields right out of the gate. While Fields did not live up to his No. 11 overall billing when Chicago selected him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, he could be a strong backup, especially within a system he’s familiar with, as he will be in Kansas City. His 16-37 record as a starter doesn’t inspire much confidence; there’s talent to tap into for spot appearances. Of course, Fields also possesses a rushing component to his game that adds another element to help his teams in a pinch.

Habitat KC is working to build 14 homes near 158th and Black Bob Road. The families who eventually live in the homes will be helped through Habitat’s affordable mortgage program.

Emari Demercado
The running backs have to be better this year and the Chiefs went to work revamping the backfield. Obviously, Kenneth Walker was a smart signing by the organization but Emari Demercado could also end up being looked at as a wise move.
Demercado’s addition to this team might not have had fans jumping for joy necessarily but there’s potential there for sure. As Arrowhead Addict’s own Lyle Graversen pointed out, Demercado is someone the Chiefs could lean on in a pass-protection role, as he’s thrived there in the past, especially over Walker, who has not done so hot in that department.

CBS NFL analyst Tony Romo arrested on suspicion of OWI | ESPN
According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office’s arrest report, Romo performed poorly on field sobriety tests after getting stopped while driving south on Interstate 43 on Thursday. Sheriff’s officials said Romo was taken into custody, booked and released.
He has a court appearance set for Sept. 21.
Romo went to high school about 35 miles from Milwaukee in Burlington, Wisconsin.
Free-agent WR DeAndre Hopkins working with Patriots coaching staff at training camp | NFL.com
The former Pro Bowl receiver is visiting the New England Patriots this week to get a feel for the coaching world, head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters Friday as veterans reported for camp.
“DeAndre Hopkins is here with us … just to kind of check things out as far as what he wants to do, as far as coaching. You’ll see him on the field,” Vrabel said.
A three-time first-team All-Pro, Hopkins played last season in Baltimore, catching a career-low 22 passes for 330 yards and two touchdowns, and is currently a free agent. Last month, Hopkins said he believes he still has “a lot of ball left,” but wouldn’t try to force his way onto a club.
Packers’ annual report reveals $14.5 billion in shared NFL revenue | Pro Football Talk
As to the money that isn’t shared, the Packers made $299.8 million. That’s $753 million in total revenue for the Packers. And it’s a $34 million increase over the team’s last annual report.
Bottom line? Business is still booming in the NFL. And if the Packers weren’t a publicly-traded corporation, we wouldn’t have the kind of information that the Packers provide as to the revenue shared by all teams.
