The New Orleans Saints are in Paris to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in a huge Week 7 matchup. Here’s what either result could mean for Kellen Moore’s squad as they look to build on Sunday’s win in New York.
If the Saints win:
A second consecutive win before the bye week would be huge for keeping playoff hopes alive, which the Saints rescued with the victory in Week 6.
The black and gold just need to win football games to dig themselves out of the hole they’ve created across the recent home stretch. Pittsburgh have looked
impressive in spots, including most recently in their comeback effort against Tampa Bay.
But, like the Giants, it’s another game the Saints have to look at as winnable. It’s a huge opportunity to make a great impression on the international stage and potentially move New Orleans back within a game of the top of the NFC South, which felt improbable as recently as last week.
I will be at the Stade de France on Sunday, hopefully celebrating a victory that could end up being a pivotal turning point.
If the Saints lose:
A loss, meanwhile, would render the Giants game – where the Saints did indeed almost find a way to blow a 24-point fourth-quarter advantage – nearly meaningless in the grand scheme of things.
It would put the black and gold’s season officially on the line when the Cleveland Browns come to town after the bye week. But for all intents and purposes, the playoffs would already feel out of reach should New Orleans get on the plane home at 2-5.
Can the Saints build on last week’s win with a triumph in the French capital? Will any of our international (or indeed, US-based) readers be alongside me in the building? Let us know in the comments!
