Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique was asked about the role his full-backs against Bayern Munich wingers Michael Olise and Luis Díaz. In a somewhat gruff response, Enrique indicated that the weight of dealing with Olise, Luis Díaz, and the rest of Bayern Munich’s attack would not just fall on those outside-back — and also that his outside defenders would be looking to attack, too.
“What do you think? Do you think we won the Champions League with (Nuno) Mendes and (Achraf) Hakimi only in defense?
Of course, they have to defend, but to win you have to attack as much as possible. We’re not going to calculate, we want to win both the first and second leg,” said Enrique in a somewhat dismissive response (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I like all Bayern players, not just Olise. Individually, they’re top-level. As a team, they’ve shown their quality.
“Kompany is a top-level coach; he showed that in England too. You can see it at Bayern, with how difficult it is to play against them. They’re a team I love to watch, a team that attacks and scores goals. I like all coaches, but especially attacking ones. Vincent Kompany is one of them.”
PSG is no slouch either with its attackers. This tie should be an explosive display of attacking skill with defenses just looking to hold on and survive the onslaught.
