Look. I get it. Running a big-time television pro wrestling company has always been Tony Khan’s dream, and he really, really wants to be able to continue doing it with AEW. The easiest way for that to happen is for his new partners at Skydance, which was officially formed today (Oct. 6) after Paramount Skydance’s acquisition of Warner Bros Discovery closed, to decide they want to stay in the pro wrestling business with him.
But at some point, I hope TK considers an approach other than “obsessed David
Ellison fan”. He’s been ramping up the fawning of his fellow nepo-billionaire and his new media empire ever since it became clear Ellison would soon be the guy ultimately deciding if AEW remains on TNT and TBS now that those networks are Skydance brands.
And he was back at it today during a live social media stream hyping Grand Slam France.
“It’s great being here in Paris today, my first day working for Skydance, and it’s great. I love working for Skydance, and we’re going to have a great future here. It’s our first day, hand in hand with our Paramount brothers and sisters here at Warner Bros. It’s going to be a great, great future for AEW, and it begins on Tuesday Night Dynamite, Grand Slam tonight.”
I hope Skydance gives TK some good news soon. Because I generally like AEW’s shows, and really like having another big-time pro wrestling company on the scene. And because I don’t know how much of Tony’s teacher’s pet routine I can take.
