In an interview with Front Office Sports, former NFL quarterback and famous uncle Eli Manning discussed a variety of topics, including media advice for his nephew, Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning, who made national headlines last week for laughing at an AI video of Steve Sarkisian slapping ESPN sideline reporter Holly Rowe, leading to a public apology a day later.
“He’ll have to figure out that media stuff on his own, and a lot of it is just kind of growing pains,” Manning said. “You feel
like they’re your pal, you relax with them a little bit, you try to be funny, and they can take it and run. So you just gotta be careful. You gotta find moments where you can be funny, you can be relaxed, but there’s certain things that you know you just gotta learn and deal with. And I think he has learned, and he apologized and did the right steps in handling that.”
The Texas quarterback responded with short answers during his post-game interview after the win over UTSA and his Monday interview previewing the SEC opener against No. 14 Tennessee in Knoxville.
Takes followed, as per usual with Manning, who needs to improve upon his road struggles in SEC play last year if the Longhorns are going to get off to a better start in conference.
