Indiana women’s basketball head coach Teri Moren is adding an experienced hand to her staff.
Fred Williams, who was most recently an assistant coach at Florida for one season in 2025-26, is taking the same role at Indiana, per an official release. He’s held several different coaching positions throughout both college basketball and the WNBA, including head coaching positions at both levels. He worked as the associate head coach at Auburn, where he was the Tigers’ defensive coordinator while working
with the program’s point guards, prior to his time at Florida.
“Fred joining our staff adds another veteran voice to our program, one that has experience across a variety of levels of women’s basketball,” Moren said in the release. “He will be a valuable asset to our staff and players, and I am excited to what he brings to our team.”
Williams has worked as an assistant coach at the WNBA level with the Los Angeles Sparks, Atlanta Dream, Utah Starzz and Charlotte Sting. He worked as a head coach for the Dream, Starzz, and Tulsa Shock/Dallas Wings, working as the interim head coach of the Sparks in 2022. He previously worked as an assistant coach and head coach at USC, coaching Trojan legends Cheryl Miller, Cynthia Cooper and Tina Thompson in the prior capacity.
