Germany national team boss Jürgen Klopp is finding out quickly what Joachim Löw, Hansi Flick, and Julian Nagelsmann all experienced over the past decade — the German national team is in bad shape.
Klopp, however, understands the assignment and never entered into his tenure as head coach thinking he could wave a magic wand and fix all of Germany’s issues. Klopp is in this for the long haul, hoping to improve things at every level of the DFB organization.
“I knew before coming here that German football
is currently not in the best situation it has ever been, and that Jürgen Klopp wasn’t going to just come and simply solve all the problems with a wave of his hand. If anyone didn’t know that, they know it now. Steps can never be big enough. Things can never happen quickly enough. But eventually, in the near future, there will be a moment when we will be difficult to play against for any opponent,” Klopp said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Patience is a virtue and it remains to be seen just how much Klopp will be granted by the fans and the DFB. Given the size of this rebuild, it might be time to put down the pitchforks and torches, and to maybe a grab a Snickers — Klopp is not going anywhere for a while.
