As you likely know by now, there is tragic news today in the Jets fanbase. Nick Mangold passed away at the age of 41 from complications due to kidney disease.
A couple of weeks ago, Mangold publicly revealed his illness and announced that he needed a transplant.
Mangold is a Jets legend. The team selected him in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He was the team’s second pick in the opening round. The first was fellow offensive lineman D’Brickashaw Ferguson. The two provided the team with top notch play in the trenches for a decade. During his career, Mangold made seven Pro Bowls, was named First Team All Pro twice, and Second Team All Pro once. In 2022, he was elected into the Jets’ Ring of Honor.
As you see tributes pour in, you can see that Mangold was as highly respected off the field as he was on the field.
I am sure we will have more to say in the days and weeks ahead. For now let me express my deepest condolences to his loved ones in this tragic time.
