Bayern won’t be getting Koundé (Get Spanish Football Now)
There were some rumors swirling that Bayern Munich had interest in FC Barcelona star Jules Koundé, but it does not appear as if the right-back will be on the move:
Barcelona star Jules Koundé is ready to rebuff the advances of one of European football’s leading clubs in favour of staying put this summer.
This comes amid the understanding that the Frenchman has emerged as a leading transfer target on the part of those in a position of power at German champions Bayern Munich.
As first reported by BILD,
and since confirmed by Diario Sport, the Bayern brass have identified Koundé as the ideal addition to Vincent Kompany’s defensive ranks with a view to next season.
As per a report from Sport:
‘Bayern Munich have consulted the player’s entourage in recent days to find out his situation and contractual conditions. According to those who know the Frenchman closely, his priority is still to continue at Barça, and he does not contemplate a change of scenery this summer.’
It was hard to fathom how it would work if the interest was real. There is depth (which Bayern Munich has now) and overkill. It feels like Koundé (who is great), would have just been too much.
Kane probably not headed to Al Hilal (BuLiNews)
Harry Kane looks like he is set to ink a contract extension with Bayern Munich, but that has not stopped some transfer rumors from seeping into the news cycle.
In this one, Al Hilal has — allegedly — made contact with Kane’s camp:
According to the Swiss branch of Sky Sport, Al Hilal has contacted Harry Kane’s representatives to explore a possible transfer.
Kane reportedly wants to consider the sporting and financial offer from the Saudis before deciding on his future.
Bizarrely, it is also reported that the 32-year-old marksman is available for a fixed fee of €65million thanks to a release clause.
However, this exit option reportedly had to be exercised by the end of January and has therefore long since expired.
If Kane has a wild ending to his World Cup, it seems likely that rumors will spike, but until we hear differently from Kane, Bayern Munich, Kane’s family, it seems like an extension is still in the works.
Haaland continues star turn with racoon (X – Joe Pompliano)
Erling Haaland probably did more to boost his Q rating than any other player at the World Cup. So, how could he make an even bigger impact? Well, he could buy a stuffed raccoon that is drinking whiskey, right?
And that is what he did:
The Whiskey Raccoon only cost a cool $750:
Haaland is still seizing the moment and is apparently running a contest/poll on his Instagram story to name the raccoon:
This will all be fitting when Haaland finishes his career with the Philadelphia Union and I run into him at the Thirsty Bulldog for a nice pint of some good, old American light beer!
How can you not like this guy?
Official: Vušković moves to Brighton (Brighton & Hove Albion)
After many reports and much speculation, Luka Vušković officially transferred to Brighton & Hove Albion from Tottenham Hotspur:
Brighton’s announcement indicates that they think they have a keeper:
We are pleased to confirm the signing of defender Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur. The 19-year-old Croatia international has joined on a five-year deal, with an option for a further year.
Men’s first team head coach Fabian Hurzeler said, “Luka has enjoyed a fantastic start to his career – it’s one we’ve followed closely. “Last season he demonstrated he can play at a very high level and we want to help him build on that within our environment. There’s been a lot of external noise about Luka joining us, but he is still a young guy who will need time to adjust to the demands of playing for Brighton and the Premier League. We are confident that he will take this in his stride though.”
It would have been great see to Vušković back in the Bundesliga (or preferably with Bayern Munich), but alas…he’s off to the Isle.
Lewy starts Fire career (Chicago Fire)
It is still so weird to see Robert Lewandowski in Chicago, but it is also kind of exciting:
The biggest problem in watching Lewy is actually watching him. This writer is still out on Apple TV.
Gosens signs with Schalke (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano)
As was previously reported, Robin Gosens is expected to play for Schalke 04 this season:
