What is the story about?

Last night the New York Heights saw their four game win streak end. They fell to an even 6-6 record with a loss to the L.A. Queens in a back and forth game that ended with a final score of 10-6

.

The Firebells, meanwhile, have won their past two games and find themselves sitting atop the standings with a 7-4 record. The Bells should be rested as they’ve only played one other game in the past week, a 14-6 blowout against the Boston Hunters on Thursday.

These two teams have faced off against one another

three times so far this season. The Heights, who have take two of their first three in the season series, are the only team in the league with a winning record against the Firebells. This will be the penultimate time these two teams face off in the regular season.

The prevailing narrative between these two teams so far has been a trading of blows from each teams respective MVP candidate.

In game one Heights catcher Danae Benites dominated the game with four hits including a home run while Firebells slugger Kelsi Whitmore went hitless.
Game two saw both stars match one another with three hits and a home run but Whitmore reached base an additional time with a walk.
Game three was a similar story with both women collecting a pair of hits including a homer each but Whitmore padding her totals with a walk.

As they enter play tonight, Whitmore’s nine home runs and 1.875 OPS both lead the league with Benites’ eight home runs and 1.752 OPS are just behind. Expect more fireworks from both as they battle for both the team win and to one up the other in the MVP race.
