According to a report from Kicker journalist Georg Holzner (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl might not be thinking about an exit from the club after all. In fact, Eberl could be getting a promotion:
Following the departure of former CFO and deputy CEO Michael Diederich, Max Eberl could now be promoted to deputy CEO. Herbert Hainer, who is in charge of the nominations as chairman of the supervisory board, is considered a supporter of Eberl and is very happy
with the work the latter has done so far. Hainer, who is looking to be re-elected as club president at the upcoming AGM, will submit his proposal for the new deputy CEO to the supervisory board. It’s also possible that Rouven Kasper would take the role immediately after he joins the club on January 1st .
This is…interesting.
Being a deputy CEO under CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen would be a new role for Eberl and it would be curious to know if this would take Eberl out of the day-to-day personnel management business, which seems to have weighed on him.
Whatever the case, Eberl did a good job in a tough situation this summer and does deserve recognition for it. How exactly that recognition gets rewarded remains to be seen, but promotion could be one way to do it.
Bayern Munich coasted into this international break with a 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt and immediately (and rightfully) hit Oktoberfest before the squad breaks up for a week-and-a-half for another international break.
It feels like a good time to appreciate these good times and examine why it all has come together under Vincent Kompany so far this season. This is what we have on tap for this episode of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:
- Winning — and some personnel moves — have cured all at Bayern Munich. The winning formula is more complicated than that, but let’s explore why things are going so well and how to keep them moving in that direction.
- Some Bayern players need a break. It is a new world for several player and a tough adjustment, but it could be the difference between winning the Champions League and flaming out early.
- What’s wrong with Florian Wirtz? The former Bayern Munich transfer target got benched at Liverpool, proving again that fit is sometime more important than finances in a footballer’s career.
- Manuel Neuer to get a new deal? Bayern Munich might just be kicking it around.
