The pro wrestling promotion that booked a match featuring Syko Stu (real name Stuart Smith) and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s son Raja has released a statement on the horrendous incident that happened in their ring on Saturday night (Aug. 23, 2025).
Raja Jackson was set to enter the ring during Smith’s match and slam him. But then things went off script as Jackson rained down over 20 punches on Smith, who appeared to be unconscious from the moment his head hit the canvas. Several wrestlers watching
from ringside had to jump in and fight Jackson off Smith’s body. The indie wrestler was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
Following the incident it was suggested by some “Rampage” Jackson that the wrestling promotion had told Jackson to punch Smith. But KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy, the promotion behind the event, is denying this.
“First and foremost our thoughts and prayers are with our brother Mr. Stuart Smith (Syko Stu) as he remains a priority and we are monitoring his well being,” a representative of KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy wrote. “What was supposed to be a planned and agreed upon wrestling spot turned into a selfish, irresponsible act of violence against Mr. Smith.”
“This egregious act is reprehensible and never should have occurred. In the 17 years of operation of KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy, there has never been anything as heinous take place such as this and we apologize to our patrons and fans.”
The incident between Jackson and Smith was predicated by a run-in before the show where Smith — in character as Syko Stu — hit Jackson with a beer can. Footage from the night shows Smith later apologizing to Jackson, with the two shaking hands. But according to reports from the event, a wrestler named AJ Mana told Jackson to give Stu ‘a receipt’ in the ring, which normally means hitting someone for real if they’re wrestling a little too stiff for your liking.
As for Stuart Smith’s current condition, there’s a lot of hearsay out there. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson claimed Smith had regained consciousness and is okay. But if you want another source, pro wrestler “The Epic” was the one who fought Jackson off Smith and shared an update on Reddit.
“Stu is ok. I’m not lying,” he wrote. “Just a situation that got out of control. I thought maybe he’d come in do a slam and maybe some working stuff. Then he went all out. I ran in when I realized what was going on from across the place. When I pulled him off I just said ‘Calm down’ and was just separating him, then he shot a double on me and the rest happened.”
“Not happy. Not proud. I think it was a bad situation and people need to learn how small moments can alter a life forever.”
