Bayern Munich’s winning run in the Champions League fizzled out against a dominant Arsenal FC. After dropping a stunning 3-1 performance in front of the home fans, Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta did not
make light of the stature and form of the opponent they went up against.
Having marshalled his troops with immaculate precision, Arteta was satisfied with the manner his players brought his plans to life on the pitch. “I’m extremely proud of the team – of the way we played, and how every single player behaved and presented themselves,” said Arteta after the game (via FCBayern).
Coming in to face a team that had yet to be defeated this season, Arteta was aware of the impact of Vincent Kompany along with the flexibility and tenacity of Bayern Munich. However, the Gunners boss highlighted where his team made a difference to dominate the visitors.
“Today we played against a team that, in my opinion, has been by far the best team in Europe over the last few months. We knew how difficult it would be: how well they are coached and what solutions they find for everything you try against them. But I think we were very dominant in many moments and controlled the game. In the end, we deserved the victory,” said Arteta as his side went up the UCL table with a three-point lead and claimed their stake to “the best team” at the moment.
