Rumors for the Day:
- Multiple sources told Fightful Select that NXT star Blake Monroe said she was injured and unhappy after the botched spot that led to her losing the North American championship to Thea Hail. People who work on her creative were also not happy with how that situation played out, and quickly pushed for the title rematch to be booked. The severity of Monroe’s injury is unknown.
- A source close to the situation said there was some heat on referee Felix Fernandez for not checking on Monroe when she was hurt. However, Shawn Michaels, Matt Bloom, and other NXT officials apparently told Fernandez that he handled the situation well.
- Regarding Austin Theory’s latest push in WWE, Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer says the main reason why WWE gives him so many chances is because they think he has a really good look.
- For whatever it’s worth, F4WOnline’s Bryan Alvarez expects that Becky Lynch will win back the women’s Intercontinental championship from Maxxine Dupri on the Jan. 5 episode of Raw.
- After WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler said he wants to wrestle one more match, Fightful was told there is a “zero percent chance” that WWE will ever clear him for it. On his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross said he spent some time with Lawler recently and doesn’t see how it would be possible for him to work another match, even outside of WWE.
- WWE is happy with the reaction Omos received for his involvement in AAA, and there could be more of these international appearances coming, per Fightful.
