Eredivisie newcomers FC Volendam have added young Chelsea midfielder Kiano Dyer to their squad on transfer deadline day, which was a day later in their league than most of the rest of Europe. The move was confirmed earlier today, with Chelsea also announcing that the 18-year-old had extended his contract through 2030 before heading out. Congrats!
Dyer joined Chelsea four years ago from West Bromwich Albion’s academy, and has since worked his way up the ranks, all the way to the fringes of the first-team.
In fact, he made his senior debut last season, as a substitute in our UEFA Conference League match against Astana in Kazakhstan.
“Kiano is a top talent who can perform quickly and effectively technically, even in tight spaces. Physically, he will be able to acclimatize in the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie and make the transition. We’ve landed a lucky strike with Dyer’s arrival.”

Busby used to be the head scout at Brighton & Hove Albion, which might help explain how this seemingly quite random move came about. Hopefully the experience will serve Dyer well.
Good luck, young man!
