Bayern Munich
will play their final match of the year on Sunday, and they’re looking to cap off the year on a high note against second-last Heidenheim. The southern club is doing slightly better than Bayern’s opponents last week, Mainz, but given what happened in that match, the Bavarians probably won’t leave anything to chance.
Despite the unusually difficult match last week, the Rekordmeister remains unbeaten in the league, and it is likely that it will stay that way (one can hope so) after Sunday’s year-ender.
Team news
Defense
Manuel Neuer picked up a minor injury right after last week’s match, so Jonas Urbig is a surefire starter in goal. Coach Vincent Kompany might want to avoid conceding any more silly goals, so the center backs is the preferred duo of Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah. Konrad Laimer picked up a fifth yellow card last time out, so he’s out for this match. That means Josip Stanišić will start on the right side of the defence while Hiroki Itō features on the opposite side.
Midfield
The midfield pivot will most likely be Joshua Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlović, with Lennart Karl as the 10. The now €60 million-rate 17-year-old is continuing to build on his good performances and will fight with Jamal Musiala next year for that position.
Attack
Luis Díaz is finally back and he’ll almost certainly be the left winger in attack, while Michael Olise is cleared to play after a surprise eye surgery. With Nicolas Jackson away on AFCON duty, Harry Kane will probably play the final 90 minutes of the year.
