CB Mansoor Delane
Mansoor Delane had a challenging week, as he covered Jaxon Smith-Njigba, one of, if not the best, WRs in the NFL. It was definitely his worst opponent since coming back from his injury, but Delane still had some nice moments throughout the game and showed why he was well worth selection. Still, in the future, the Chiefs will need better from him in these matchups.
In Week 8, the Chiefs will face the Denver Broncos in one of the season’s top games. For Delane, Jaylen Waddle is dealing with an injury,
and Courtland Sutton is having a career-low season, so this matchup is actually really good for Delane.
Safety A.J. Haulcy
It seems we are finally seeing Haulcy’s impact on the Colts defense. He is finishing games with an impressive number of tackles, leading the team with nine in Week 7. This is the type of impact that many wanted to see to start the season, and although it’s a bit later, it’s a positive sign that the franchise needed to see.
Haulcy will be facing a very difficult Jaguars offense that loves to chase big plays, which has been Haulcy’s issue this season.
WR Zavion Thomas
Sadly, after Thomas’ play on the field was going in the right direction, last week was not great. He did have a career-high 3 receptions and 25 yards, but he was called for multiple penalties that really hurt the offense. As a young player who does not have a solidified spot on the roster, he can’t make these types of mistakes.
Ben Johnson tends to keep his WRs accountable, so this may mean Thomas won’t get into the offense next game.
TE Bauer Sharp
In an insane blowout by the Bucs, Sharp was not involved with the passing attack, but he was a key blocker throughout the game. I wish he got another reception after getting his first last week, but that’s not really his role
So for next game, Sharp is likely just going to be a primary blocker.
WR Barion Brown
I said last week that Brown was getting more and more involved in the New Orleans Saints offense, and this past game was his best. He was great as a returner and had the Saints’ longest reception of the year on a 57 yard pass from Tyler Shough.
The Saints are on their bye week, and after, first round pick Jordyn Tyson should be back so Brown’s role will diminish, but hopefully, he can still get involved throughout games.
LB Harold Perkins
Unlike last game, Perkins was used on most snaps and had some really great tackles against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers. He continues to be a great addition to the Falcons defense, and should be able to make some massive plays against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next game.
QB Garrett Nussmeier
Did not play because Patrick Mahomes is healthy.
EDGE Jack Pyburn
Was inactive for the Chiefs.
