Young Ishé Samuels-Smith will be spending next season on loan at third division Notts County, who completed the 20-year-old defender’s signing today. He’s part of their reinforcement drive this summer to ensure their stay in League One, after earning promotion from League Two via the playoffs last season. The Magpies, who famously got relegated from the old first division in its very last season before the formation of the Premier League, have spent the last decade in the fourth division and non-league
football.
Samuels-Smith spent last season on loan at Swansea City in the Championship, but managed only eight appearances across all competitions. He had initially switched to sister-club RC Strasbourg, but that transfer was reversed on deadline day. Wouldn’t be the BlueCo Multi-club of Madness without some transfer window silliness. Hopefully a less frantic summer will lead to a more successful season ahead.
Originaly a product of Everton’s academy, Samuels-Smith joined Chelsea in 2023. He signed a long-term deal good through 2031 last year.
Good luck, Ishé!
