Spain has dispatched France from the World Cup.
Now, all eyes shift to the other semi-final – England vs. the FIFA darlings Argentina. It is time for captain Harry Kane to deliver for his country.
Yes, Jude Bellingham was the star of the show against Norway and might very well play a massive role against Argentina, but England has never needed their hero, Kane, more than they do now. It is going to take a herculean effort from the entire team to best an Argentina side that continues to find ways to eke
out wins.
Kane has been the world’s best footballer this season without a doubt. His unparalleled finishing and ball distribution ability, combined with his mind-numbing G/A numbers this season (an outrageous 81 goal contributions thus far), are why he is England’s most potent weapon on any given day and why he is currently the frontrunner for the Ballon d’Or.
Especially since it is now quite likely that his close competition will not win it with the way Ousmane Dembélé, Michael Olise, and Kylian Mbappé performed against Spain.
A top performance that helps England overcome Argentina to make the finals of the FIFA World Cup? Now that would all but cement Kane’s status at the top of the footballing world. And if that does come to fruition, England will dream big for the first time in what feels like forever.
Will it finally come home? And will “Sir” Harry Edward Kane be the one to drag England over the finish line?
