When Bayern Munich star midfielder Joshua Kimmich fell ill this week, Vincent Kompany opted to buy his guy a little more downtime by not starting him in the team’s 4-0 thrashing of Werder Bremen.
Taking
Kimmich’s place was youngster Tom Bischof, who did not disappoint after a somewhat shaky start.
“He was good. I thought he needed a bit more time in the first half. The longer the game went on, the more he gained rhythm, the more confidence he had, and the more attacking he became. He assisted the goal superbly. He has tremendous quality, especially in the final third. He did very well, especially in the second half and towards the end of the game,” said Kimmich (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Bischof did look a little rusty early, but definitely got better as the game developed. It was a very positive step for the former Hoffenheim star.
Bayern Munich was the home side in the Bundesliga on Friday when Werder Bremen came to town.
The Bavarians decimated the visitors 4-0 in a game that was never really close. Bayern Munich was relentless and dominant in every aspect of the match. It is not as if Werder Bremen did not try, but the players just could not match up with the machine that was Bayern Munich.
