That didn’t last long.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) interim Lightweight champion Tony Ferguson has received a new opponent for his first Misfits Boxing Middleweight title defense this weekend (Sat., Sept. 26, 2026) inside James L. Knight Center in Miami, Florida.
Misfits Boxing announced earlier today that former soccer player Kenzo Biyong was forced to withdraw because of “travel complications.” Former Olympic Greco-Roman wrestler Mahmoud Sebie will now step in and box “El Cucuy” on just
four days’ notice.
Ferguson, 42, has found new life since departing UFC on the heels of a record-setting eight-fight losing streak. “El Cucuy” snapped his nearly six-year winless drought in Aug. 2025, stopping popular influencer Salt Papi in the third round of his Misfits Boxing debut (watch highlights).
Four months later, Ferguson dropped and defeated Warren Spencer via unanimous decision to capture the vacant Misfits Middleweight championship (watch highlights). He is now 2-0 as a professional boxer and will attempt to make his first successful title defense against a completely different opponent than the one he spent the past few weeks preparing for.
Sebie, 34, represented Egypt in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, competing in the 75-kilogram division. He eventually transitioned to mixed martial arts (MMA), compiling a 6-3 professional record with appearances under the Bellator MMA and Professional Fighters League (PFL) banners.
In a funny coincidence, Ferguson and Sebie both recently competed — and got steamrolled — under the Real American Freestyle (RAF) banner. Sebie suffered a 10-0 technical-fall loss to Zahid Valencia at RAF 6 this past February, while Ferguson was blanked by UFC Lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan by the same score at RAF 10 in June.
Fortunately for both men, no takedowns will be allowed this weekend.
Ferguson vs. Sebie joins a Misfits Boxing card headlined by former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo making his professional boxing debut against actor and Most Valuable Promotions prospect Wanna Walton. The event will stream live on DAZN.
