The Milwaukee Bucks will take offense from the Houston Rockets in a Sunday matinee game. We’ll see whether their scoring remains scorching as the hosts and the Fiserv Forum begin their descend into wintertime.
Where We’re At
A win against the Chicago Bulls provided welcome respite after an iffy stretch of play from the Boys in Cream. I expect every SEGABABA to be a loss, but they didn’t light the Pacers on fire on Monday either. It’s been a tale of two big men for Milwaukee, with newly acquired Myles Turner continuing to integrate himself into the team on both sides of the ball while Bobby Portis has continued to not ingratiate himself with his citizens.
The Rockets had a five-game win streak sullied by the Spurs in their NBA Cup debut. Our colleagues at The Dream Shake have been with them every step of the way, whether they’re appreciating their offseason acquisition of starting point guard Josh Okogie (two days after surveying the league for alternatives) or “destroying an absolutely inaccurate depiction of Amen Thompson.” Notably, their offense has been near the top of the league, in part due to a double-big lineup pairing Alperen Sengun with Steven Adams. Houston will be a test of Milwaukee’s defense in general, but in particular at the rim, which has not been the Bucks’ strong suit thus far.
Injury Report
Giannis is probable (left knee patellar tendinopathy), while Taurean Prince (neck strain) and of course Kevin Porter Jr. (right knee meniscus surgery) are out. For the Rockets, Dorian Finney-Smith (left ankle surgery) and Fred VanVleet (right knee ACL repair) are out.
Player To Watch
Turner spoke with Doc and the coaching staff about changing his role on the team. Today represents a test of that role against a stronger squad, especially one that is well-stocked with bigs who can challenge him on both ends of the floor.
