When Kansas City Chiefs rookie running back Emmett Johnson flew downfield to finish off a 73-yard touchdown against the Denver Broncos, it was one of the season’s most exciting plays. Johnson’s first-career touchdown was memorable and worthy of a big celebration after the play, but thanks to quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the ball used on the play wasn’t lost in the hubbub.

Patrick Mahomes showed again why he’s a great teammate after Emmett Johnson’s TD | The Kansas City Star
This is something Mahomes has done frequently in the past, and it shows again why he’s such a great teammate.
Mahomes did it in Super Bowl LVII so Skyy Moore got the ball after his first career touchdown reception. Xavier Worthy has the ball from his first NFL touchdown thanks to Mahomes. Ditto for former KC running back Isiah Pacheco.
“I remember I got my first ball,” Mahomes said after getting Pacheco’s keepsake. “I can’t remember who gave me my first touchdown ball, but I remember getting that. That’s something I will keep it my entire life, and so I always think about when those guys (score) the first touchdown either for the Chiefs or for their first touchdown of their career, I always get that football to them.”
Rashee Rice files for bankruptcy, lists Chiefs Super Bowl ring as collateral | The Athletic
Among his assets, Rice included a 2023 Mercedes-Benz car estimated at $53,800, along with $5,000 in “NFL Jerseys & Hats,” $7,500 in clothing and apparel and a combined $13,600 in three separate checking accounts. He also listed $421,825 in expected deferred compensation.
The document showed that Rice owes attorney Thomas McMurray $185,226.45. Of that, Rice’s Super Bowl LVIII ring is being kept for $160,000 in collateral.
Other debts include $207,104.40 to First National Bank of Middle Tennessee for “business debt-personal guarantee” and $140,150 to First National Bank in Killeen, Texas, for an “unsecured” loan.

Chiefs’ Justin Fields will run a QB sneak
The Chiefs continue to never run QB sneaks, and the yearly scrutiny over that decision has arrived this week following their late short-yardage failures against the Broncos. Kansas City has a big QB2 in Fields and loves to use funky packages featuring nose tackle Khyiris Tonga. Why not put the backup QB sneak on film … just to set up an inevitable fourth-down outside run that hits for an explosive play in six weeks?

Kingsley Suamataia
KC | OGWill he bounce back in 2026?
Suamataia always has a chance to improve in practice and perform better when he gets another opportunity to crack the starting lineup. However, the third-year pro’s résumé and reel suggest his struggles will continue because his talent hasn’t meshed with the Chiefs’ prescribed techniques. On the plus side, he’s still just 23 years old. Perhaps he can become a serviceable starter in time who holds his own when protected by a strong supporting cast. But the 2026 Chiefs’ O-line woes are so severe that it is hard to envision the third-year pro returning to prominence this season.
Kansas City Chiefs to face New York Jets without three top draft picks | Chiefs Wire
2025 second-rounder Omarr Norman-Lott has also been ruled out for the AFC showdown.
Delane is said to be dealing with a shoulder injury, Woods has what is being described as a “neck stinger,” and Norman-Lott is working his way back from a stint on injured reserve caused by his knee.
While Delane and Norman-Lott were able to practice in a limited capacity over the past three days, Woods was the only Chiefs player who was held out of all of Kansas City’s workouts in Week 9.

What I’m hearing about Derrick Henry, Jonathan Taylor, Garrett Wilson rumors at the NFL trade deadline | The Athletic
The Jets have no desire or intention to trade wide receiver Garrett Wilson or running back Breece Hall, according to multiple sources. If you think I’m hedging, it’s only because I don’t think a right-minded Darren Mougey would turn down a huge haul for either player. But I don’t see one coming, either.
“It is very unlikely to happen,” one team source says.
Wilson, the 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year, is on track for another 1,000-yard receiving season despite currently being in concussion protocol. Hall, who is expected to return this week from a Week 3 quad injury, is coming off his first 1,000-yard rushing season and was rewarded in the offseason with a three-year, $45.75 million contract extension.
Colts in Daniel Jones trade talks as multiple teams call about QB, sources say | ESPN
The Baltimore Ravens were one team to check in on Jones before they opted to trade for former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett. But the Ravens are hardly the only team to call the Colts about him, according to league sources.
Speculation has also included the Minnesota Vikings, a team Jones has history with and a team with a Super Bowl-caliber defense that shouldn’t be ruled out.
Rams’ Myles Garrett (knee) set to return this week vs. Commanders | Yahoo! Sports
After back-to-back days of being limited in practice, Garrett is set to play Sunday when the Rams face the Washington Commanders barring any setbacks. The team opened his 21-day practice window this week.
“He’s looking good, looking fast,” said Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald of Garrett.
“[We’re] getting to work with him in full pads and playing off each other. It looked pretty good today, so I’m excited about having him here, having him back, and seeing what we do Sunday.”

What the Chiefs are saying about the Jets
“Allen has had four really good games, and it feels like they want to feature the running back no matter who’s back there,” Spagnuolo pointed out. “I think they’re a little bit different, and yet I think they both run the scheme really well.”
I think he looks Derrick Henry-ish to me sometimes,” Spags described Allen. ”He’s a big guy. So, we’ve got to be on point tackling.
“It will all start with run defense, where Kansas City ranks eighth in rushing yards allowed per game (96) and third in yards per rushing attempt (3.5). The Seahawks ran for 153 yards a couple of weeks ago, but no other opponent has hit 120 or more yards against the Chiefs on the ground this season.
