Bayern Munich won their first silverware of the season with the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup. A 2-1 win against DFB Pokal Champions VfB Stuttgart was enough to bring the trophy home. The game featured goals from Harry Kane and Luis Díaz, of whom the latter had a particularly impressive game.
The English captain spoke of Díaz’s abilities following the game. Per @iMiaSanMia, Kane praised the Colombian for his agility and sharpness.
“I think you can see what he brings 1v1. He’s really sharp, really agile.
The goal was a great run, a great finish,” he said.
The goal was set up by a fantastic Serge Gnabry cross, who got the ball from the edge of the box into the penalty area. Lucho made a perfectly timed run and headed ball straight into the net.
“Scoring in your first competitive game for a new club is great and for it to be the winning goal is a perfect start for him,” Kane declared.
Further Díaz paid homage to the late Diogo Jota, who’d tragically passed last month. The Colombian celebrated the goal with his former teammate’s celebration — seated on the pitch, and gesturing though he were using a gaming controller.
Kane spoke on the same. “Luis obviously played with him and knew him well. I think the whole football world comes together in moments like that,” he stated.
“It was a nice tribute to him and his family and his brother. That whole situation obviously is a sad situation. The more we can come together and show our love, I think the better,” the striker declared.
