The Golden State Warriors will complete their first back-to-back of the season with Friday night’s matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers. The game will be played at 7:00 PM PT in San Francisco and can

be watched on NBC Sports Bay Area.

Golden State’s home opener on Thursday night was a thriller, as they beat the Denver Nuggets in overtime, 137-131. Despite a 50-point explosion from Denver’s Aaron Gordon — including a career-high 10-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc — the Warriors still managed to pull off the win.

Stephen Curry once again delivered a vintage performance, finishing with 40 points while hitting a string of clutch shots down the stretch, including this deep three to force overtime:

From the 2:45 mark of the fourth quarter through the end of overtime, Curry single-handedly outscored the Nuggets with 17 points. After the game, Draymond Green said he wasn’t surprised to see Curry take over — it’s what he’s been doing throughout his entire career.

What to watch for tonight:

Tonight’s matchup comes with some recent controversy surrounding the Trail Blazers. On Thursday, Portland head coach Chauncey Billups was taken into FBI custody amid an investigation into an alleged illegal gambling ring. In Portland’s first game since the news broke, it was announced that assistant coach Tiago Splitter will step in as interim head coach in Billups’ absence.

As for the Warriors, managing minutes will be key following Thursday’s high-intensity overtime win. Head coach Steve Kerr has already ruled out Al Horford for all back-to-backs this season, and with another set of back-to-back games beginning next Monday, expect Kerr to lean on the younger players to carry more of the load tonight — especially with Moses Moody expected to make his return.
