Jake Paul had little sympathy for Conor McGregor following the Irish sports star’s fight-ending knee injury at UFC 329.
McGregor stepped into the cage for the first time in five years and then stepped right back out with an injury to his right leg, the result of a wild jumping switch kick he threw to start the fight. The whole fight — which generated a $25 million gate for UFC and tens of millions for “The Notorious” — was done in just over a minute.
Shortly after the McGregor fight, combat sports
sideshow extraordinaire Jake Paul chimed in to mock the Mac, posting 47 laughing emojis. In a video shared on his socials, Paul mimed McGregor’s jump and then limped around for a moment screeching before falling into a pool.
“Recap for those who didn’t watch,” Paul wrote on Instagram.
Thousands of commenters flamed Paul in the replies, reminding him of his own recent humiliating loss. Several hours later, Paul shared a less inflammatory message towards McGregor.
“Bulls–t aside, prayers for you and your family,” Jake wrote. “God does not like ugly, but God always forgives. Forgiveness is unconditional and limitless, provided through faith and sincere repentance.”
Paul has spent years throwing jabs McGregor’s way, fishing for a fight. But more recently, “The Problem Child” suggested he had surpassed McGregor and no longer considered him a viable opponent. For his part, McGregor has said he’d fight all the massive influencers in combat sports … once his legitimate fighting career had ended.
Well, we might be there now after this debacle.
McGregor had no words regarding Paul through this entire UFC 329 media run, but the Pauls did catch a stray during a Polymarket commercial featuring Conor. The ad shared a number of social media posts doubting the Mac’s ability to win, including “Conor is one loss away from fighting a Paul brother!”
We’ll see if those words are prophetic. For now, McGregor needs to heal from his injury and get through the mental hardship of such a public fiasco.
