Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco has made 192 starts during his NFL career, which is now in its 19th season.
Along the way, Flacco has pocketed a Super Bowl championship and MVP award, a Comeback Player of the Year trophy, appeared five times on the NFL’s Top 100 players’ list, passed for almost 46,000 yards, and 258 touchdowns.
On Sunday, when the Browns face the Baltimore Ravens, Flacco will do something he has never done in his NFL career, as it will be the first time he plays a game as a visiting
quarterback in Baltimore.
Since leaving the Ravens following the 2018 season after 11 years, Flacco has played for the Denver Broncos, New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, and is now on his second tour with the Browns.
During that time, he has made 29 starts, but has only faced the Ravens once, which came in the 2022 season opener when he was with the Jets. In that game played at MetLife Stadium, Flacco was 37-of-59 for 309 yards, with one touchdown and one interception, in a 24-9 loss.
Prior to the season-opener against the Cincinnati Bengals, Flacco said he was looking forward to returning to Baltimore, according to cleveland.com:
“I’ve played Baltimore once, a few years ago, but I haven’t been back in that stadium since 2018. It’s going to be cool. I love playing there, so that’ll be neat. I know a couple of my buddies are going to go back to that game. They go back for games anyway, but they’ll go back to that game. My family’s going to be able to drive down to it.
“To a certain extent, it’ll be a little bit different going into Baltimore on the opposing team, but it’s an awesome place to play, and it will be something that I’d be excited about.”
Sunday’s game was already going to be an emotional one as the Ravens are using the day as an opportunity to “celebrate” the 30th anniversary of the city stealing the Browns from Cleveland. And both the Browns and Ravens will be desperate to pick up their first win of the season after frustrating losses in Week 1.
It will also be Flacco’s first, and possibly last, opportunity to remind Baltimore fans that he can still produce at age 40 and, in the process, pick up one more win at M&T Bank Stadium.
