Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is just a couple of days in front of the UFC Oklahoma main event, headlined by the Dricus Du Plessis vs. Kamaru Usman middleweight showdown, going down this Sat. night (July 18, 2026) at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Fans on social media were aghast by the “ridiculous” size difference.
Perhaps that’s why Usman, a former welterweight champion, “didn’t want to sign the contract.”
Du Plessis (23-3) has not competed since losing his 185-pound title to Khamzat
Chimaev at UFC 319 last summer in Chicago. As for the rarely-active Usman (21-4), he’s looking to capitalize on his Joaquin Buckley win atop the UFC Atlanta fight card in June 2025.
“Stillknocks” is currently a -230 betting favorite.
“I don’t want to say it’s a bad thing to always feel underappreciated but I think it’s just a little extra chip on your shoulder that you need to go out there to perform,” Usman told CBS Sports. “So, yes, I would say that I still have that chip on my shoulder. It has been a running joke about knees. I have had even worse injuries than that. It is what it is. Let them keep joking. I just have to go in there and prove them wrong every time.”
