The Minnesota Vikings announced a roster move on Monday morning, signing cornerback Bryce Phillips to their 90-man roster. They facilitated this move by placing safety Jamal Adams on injured reserve, officially ending his season following the injury he suffered in Saturday’s preseason opener.
Phillips went undrafted in this past April’s NFL Draft and initially signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, but was recently waived. He started his college career at Tennessee State, playing his first two seasons
there before transferring to San Diego State.
In his two seasons with the Aztecs, he appeared in 24 games, collecting 74 tackles, including two tackles for loss. He also had two interceptions and ten passes defended.
Phillips is the second member of his family to make it into the National Football League. His older brother, Clark Phillips III, was selected in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons.
Not a roster move that’s going to move the proverbial needle too much, in all likelihood, but the Vikings needed to fill Adams’ spot on the roster, and that’s exactly what they’ve done.
Welcome to Minnesota, Bryce!
