Barcelona full-back Jules Kounde was the team’s unlikely hero against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The France star scored both goals as the hosts came from behind to beat the Bundesliga side at the Camp Nou.
Kounde spoke to reporters after the match about his goals and the importance of the victory to Barcelona.
“I’m happy with the win, these are three very important points. Sometimes you just score, and today was my day. We controlled the first half, they scored on their
only real chance, we needed to take more risks with the ball,” he said.
“But in the second half we stepped up a gear and scored the goals. We had to suffer, but these are three important points.
“The first goal was something we had worked on. It was my job to get there. I knew Rashford likes to put in those kinds of crosses. The second goal, at the end, I tried to curl it into the box, but it went into the net. I’m a bit surprised, but sometimes you need a bit of luck.”
Barcelona now sit 14th in the standings, but just two points off the top eight, ahead of their next game in the competition in January against Slavia Prague.
