We have the results of this week’s SB Nation Reacts survey for our Minnesota Vikings for this week, and we have it well ahead of the weekend because it pertains to this weekend’s preseason opener against the New York Football Giants at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
We asked you exactly how long the Vikings’ starters should see the field for against the Giants tomorrow afternoon, and folks seem to think they should see a fairly extensive amount of playing time, at least compared to what we’ve seen
in the recent past.
Of those who responded to our poll, 48% believe that the starters for the purple should hit the field for at least two series, while another 30% believe that should extend to at least three series (and possibly more). Only 13% believe they should only go out there for one series, while the remaining 9% believe they shouldn’t get on the field at all.
Over the past couple of seasons, the Vikings’ starters have seen just about no time during the preseason. Obviously, with the quarterback issue that the team has had in camp, that can’t be the case this preseason. Kevin O’Connell has already said that both Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy will play on Saturday, so we’ll have to keep an eye on the extent to which both of them see action. As far as some of the other starters, I’m sure there will be a case-by-case basis for some of them playing or not playing. I would be absolutely stunned if we saw Justin Jefferson in the offensive huddle on Saturday, for example, but a lot of the other starters will probably see at least a little bit of action.
