The Carolina Panthers are looking to prove their first place finish in the NFC South last season was no fluke. Bryce Young is effectively in an extended contract year, with everything left to prove after three lackluster seasons. This could be the most important season in his, Dan Morgan’s, and Dave Canales’ Panthers careers.
With three primetime games and a divisional schedule that is largely finished by Week 14, the Panthers will have lots of early eyes on them. A strong national and divisional showing
will mean they get to keep those eyes through all the playoff scenarios in December. A flat showing out of the gate, which has been their standard in recent years, could make long odds for a repeat playoff performance.
FanDuel started the over/under for Carolina’s win total at 7.5 wins this season. That means that most people aren’t expecting the Panthers to stay on top of the NFC South. In most divisions, that would likely be a third or fourth place finish. As we all know in the South, however, that could have the Panthers just a half game behind or tied for the division lead.
